As I was talking with my students before the holiday break started, I came to realize just how different this vacation experience will be for them compared to my classes from the past. Instead of being able to gather with family and friends, most will have to stay home. Rather than being a time that is characterized by joy, many have experienced sorrow due to illness and death within their families. This pandemic has been a very difficult and trying time for all of us, but it has affected this next generation in ways that I don’t think we can truly understand the full magnitude of. Here’s to hoping for a better New Year, may 2021 be kinder to us all…
