At this point I am sure all have seen the footage of the teacher from California that attacked the student in his class. While such actions can never be justified, I know that myself and a number of educators can sympathize with the instructor, whom after receiving an unrelenting onslaught of profanity and racial slurs hurled at him for several minutes, finally lost his cool and couldn’t hold back his anger anymore. I just hope this serves as a notice as to just how emotionally challenging the job of teaching can be, and helps begin a conversation of how teachers can be supported more in the classroom when dealing with challenging and unruly students.
